Canelo Alvarez won bragging rights

Eddie Hearn, the promoter, said that a Canelo loss would have been "terrible" for the 32-year-old.

After 12 thrilling rounds at the T-Mobile Arena ended, Canelo was left with only smiles as the Mexican powerhouse won a unanimous vote to ignite wild scenes of celebration among the Mexican fans, who gathered in a sold-out crowd.

The bout was scored by one judge at 116-112, while the other two judges gave it 115-113. This was almost perfect. After the two previous clashes that were so close, no one can complain about the outcome this time.

Alvarez was pleased to see his weight drop back to 168 pounds, but Golovkin will regret a slow start in a performance that only ignited when it was too late.

The highly anticipated third fight between two of the most hard hitting fighters in the World took place four years after their last encounter.

In 2018, Canelo raised his hand after 12 quality rounds. This saw Golovkin lose for the first time since he had been wrongly ruled out by a majority.

The Kazakh warrior, who is very busy and has no time for Canelo, was not easy to deal with. Since the Mexican failed a drug test, bad blood has been boiling ever since. He was banned for six month which kept this edge-of your-seat trilogy on track.

Canelo was greeted by his adoring crowd, many of whom were still feeling the need to party after the Mexican Independence Day celebrations in Sin City.

GGG has been traveling for nearly a decade, so taking on Canelo and the pumped-up crowd was not a new thing. However, GGG was first to fight at super-middleweight.

The atmosphere was electric, with a packed T-Mobile chanting Mexico Mexico'. Canelo began aggressively but couldn't make it through the Golovkin backguard.

Canelo was a bit sloppy in the first round, throwing a lot of punches but not connecting with anything. Canelo's jab started to make Golovkin's eyes redden, but this was already looking as close as the first two encounters.

The Mexican wanted to win the KO. However, Golovkin used a huge right hook in the fifth to smash Golovkin's granite jaw. But the Kazakh was able absorb the force and continue his fight against his much more aggressive opponent.

Golovkin began to show signs of age as Canelo continued to fire a barrage shots that attempted to destroy the GGG defense. Alvarez was pushed against the ropes in the ninth. But Golovkin couldn't get any momentum, even though he tried throwing more shots.

The final rounds were fast-paced and action-packed, Golovkin throwing everything at Mexican opponent, but it was too late, as Canelo held firm to earn the admiration of his adoring fans.
