Canelo Alvarez's former opponent Avni Yildirim shows why the Mexican star is a 'full package'.

Avni Yildirim, his ex-opposite, has described CANELO ALVAREZ as "the complete package". He claims that his uppercuts are "brutal."

Canelo, the top attraction in boxing, holds world titles at four weight divisions: light-middleweight, light-heavyweight and light-heavyweight.

After three fights at the weight of 168lbs, he is currently the unified super-middleweight champion.

Avni Yildirim, one of the few to have witnessed the Mexican star's glory firsthand, opened up about the hard reality of sharing the ring.

SunSport spoke with Yildirim: "He's strong. He's the complete package. He is hard-hitting, precise, and fast.

"Canelo's body shots, counterpunching and brutal uppercuts are all brutal. His defensive movements were also mentioned.

"It's very difficult to hit him, and you're very likely get hit simultaneously."

Canelo, 31 years old, left with the WBC/WBA titles in December 2020, having defeated Callum Smith from Liverpool, 31 over 12 rounds.

After a routine stoppage of Yildirim (30), in February, he was confronted by Billy Joe Saunders (31), in a unification bout.

Canelo took eight rounds to disarm Saunders and left the Brit with FOUR facial fractures.

Alvarez will need Caleb Plant's IBF championship to be undisputed champion for his first time in illustrious history.

They will fight in Las Vegas this weekend, and Plant, 29 years old, will have to do something Floyd Mayweather (now 44) has never done.

Mayweather's record of 59 fights is unblemished. The 23-year-old boxer was taught a lesson in boxing by Mayweather.

Yildirim isn't sure that lightening will strike twice as a cold warning to Plant.

He stated that Plant should outbox him if he could. It's unlikely to happen. He's not going to win in a slugfest.

"As I stated, I don't think Plant has a chance in this one. At the moment, I don't think Canelo is able to win.

"Officially, you can fight him from the outside, but he will find a way for you to get close enough that you land those difficult combinations.

"And if you enter for a shootout, you will likely lose because Canelo has so much defense and counter punching ability. Plant is impossible to beat, I'm not sure."
