Canelo Alvarez, the Mexican superstar boxer, has revealed that his five-year-old son, Saul Adiel, is already planning to follow in his father's footsteps. However, Canelo insists that before he can pursue a career in boxing, Saul must learn to take a punch.
A Future Champion in the Making?
Despite his young age, Saul Adiel is already convinced that he will one day headline in Las Vegas, just like his famous father. In an exclusive interview with SunSport, Canelo admitted that his son loves boxing and has asked him when he will get the chance to fight in Vegas.
However, Canelo responded with a dose of reality, stating, "When you grow up and you're 18 years old, maybe you can fight in Vegas. But first, you're going to take the first punch and then let me know if you want to be a boxer or not."
A Father's Sacrifice
Canelo Alvarez, who is also a doting father to his daughters Emily, Mia, and Maria, knows firsthand the sacrifices required to pursue a career in boxing. He warned that his son would have to love boxing and have the discipline and talent necessary to handle the sacrifices that come with the sport.

However, Canelo is no stranger to boxing being a family affair, with his older brothers Ramon, Ricardo, and Rigoberto also being fighters. Despite the challenges of being a father and seeing his child pursue the same difficult path, Canelo stated, "If he loves boxing that much, then I need to support him no matter what."
Canelo's Continued Success
Canelo Alvarez is no stranger to success in the boxing world. In 2021, he became the undisputed 168lb king after winning all four super-middleweight belts. This marked another milestone in his already illustrious career, which has spanned 63 fights and 18 years in the ring.
Now, Canelo is set to make history again as he takes on American Jermell Charlo, 33, in a showdown between two current undisputed champions. Charlo is moving up two weight divisions to face Canelo, and the Mexican fighter has vowed to make him pay for previous trash-talk.
As Canelo prepares for this high-stakes fight, he expressed his love for boxing and his motivation to prove his skills to those who doubted him. He said, "I love boxing and I love these kind of fights. And it motivates me more and more because he never believed in my skills, he's always calling me out, always talking s*** about me."

Regardless of the outcome of his upcoming fight, Canelo's dedication to the sport and his willingness to support his son's dreams demonstrate the immense passion and determination that have made him one of boxing's biggest names.
