Joshua would lose another fight, his third in five after being defeated by Andy Ruiz Jr. on June 2019.
Froch thinks another defeat for AJ could be in the offing, possibly via knockout.
According to the BBC, the former fighter said that AJ could lose his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk if he suffers a devastating defeat - a decisive points loss or a heavy knockout.
"I don't see how he can move after two consecutive defeats.
He should win. I want him to win, and I don't think he is completely out of my reach. He's strong enough and big enough to have all his physical attributes. But I must be brutally honest and say that I doubt he will win.
"If Usyk can land with as much power and accuracy this time as last time, Joshua won't hear the final bell."
Froch's view is not unique. Jonny Nelson, a former cruiserweight, also believes that Joshua will be without a home if he loses.
Nelson claimed that Joshua's fight mentality means he wouldn't want to stay in the heavyweight division and would rather hang up his gloves if defeated.
Sky Sports spoke with Nelson: "It's not his DNA to want to stay around the heavyweight division knowing that there's someone that can beat him." It's a fighter's mentality.
"He doesn’t want to be a backing dancer, he wants the best man. So if Usyk beats me I think he’ll walk away.
He knows that this could be his last major fight. He doesn't have the genetic ability to be a gatekeeper and stand aside.
