CAROLINE DUBOIS will gladly relive her Olympic nightmare each evening if it inspires her to win the world title.
The talented 21-year old southpaw will make her professional debut Saturday on the Cardiff undercard of Chris Eubank Jr. vs Liam Williams.
Caroline Dubois will make her professional fight debut in Cardiff on Saturday night
Six months ago, she reached the quarterfinals in Tokyo. She lost only to the eventual winner of the gold medal. It is a remarkable achievement for a girl her own age.
The little sister to heavyweight star Daniel has set the bar so high that she will be able to beat herself with near misses until she has lightweight gold around her waist instead of her neck.
SunSport spoke to Shane McGuigan, who trained the starlet. "The Olympic loss still haunts my every night, so I go to sleep and lay there kicking myself."
It's the same every night. Why didn't you do a little more? Why didn't you throw this or that punch to make it more interesting?
"I must start fighting now to prove that everyone who backed me and supported my efforts to win a medal was right.
"And I want anyone who doubted my after my loss to be very wrong.
"I hope it can be used as a tool eventually, it will push my training and I know that it will remind me of what it was like to lose.
"I will never let that happen again. I will always remember the pain, anger, and disappointment."
Eight months after Daniel's devastating first pro loss, Caroline suffered her final amateur loss. Joe Joyce beat Caroline to submission.
Caroline was 8st and a foot smaller than her big brother and was loudest up on the Church House balcony at Westminster. She was heartbroken that her big bro died.
It was a terrible reminder of the cruel business she is engaging in against Vaida Masiokaite.
She said, "It was terrible to be there and observe because I couldn't do anything." "I was not in the ring or in the corner. He is my brother, and I would do anything for him. I was only a few steps away, but I was powerless.
"But this boxing, that's what me and my brother do, it's our favorite sport, but sometimes we hate it.
"I hate Daniel, but I love boxing. I'd rather be at the gym, training hard, with pains and taking punches than to watch him. Everything about my brother fighting is horrible to me.
"But I know that he loves it because he's fighting for his family, and he has built an actual crowd and fansbase who want him to succeed. That part is what I like."
Caroline was expected to join Daniel on BT Sport's paid ranks, but she joined Sky Sports' boxing revolution, possibly with ulterior motives.
She grins.
"I couldn't help but be loud when Daniel boxed. You won't hear him speak when we fight. He will be calm and relaxed. My little brother Prince and he are calmer than me.
"I would be so concerned and worried about him, that I wouldn't concentrate on my fight."
"So that's it not happening, no shared shows, no way."
Eubank Jr. vs. Williams will be live on Sky Sports Saturday at 7.30pm
