MMA Star Doumbe Wants Jake Paul as Backup Replacement
MMA star Cedric Doumbe, who recently signed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), has called out Jake Paul and believes that 80,000 fans would show up to watch their fight. Doumbe, known for winning his debut in just nine seconds, is set to fight Baissangour Chamsoudinov on March 7 in Paris. However, if Chamsoudinov fails to make weight, Doumbe wants Paul, who is also signed with the PFL, to be the backup replacement.
The Stade de France Could Be Filled in an Hour
Doumbe expressed his interest in fighting Jake Paul during an interview on The MMA Hour. He stated, "If I fight against Jake Paul, I think the Stade de France would be full in an hour." The Stade de France, where France's national football team plays, has a capacity of 80,000 fans. Doumbe, who is one of France's biggest stars, previously had PSG players, including Kylian Mbappe, attend his fights.
Jake Paul's Boxing and MMA Career
Jake Paul, a YouTuber-turned-prizefighter, currently holds a record of 8-1 in boxing. He is scheduled to fight on March 2 in Puerto Rico. In addition to his boxing career, Paul has signed with the PFL and is set to make his MMA debut in 2024. There is a significant weight difference between Paul, who fights at the cruiserweight limit of 200lb, and Doumbe, who fights at the welterweight limit of 170lb.
Doumbe Likes to Stay Fit, Doesn't Enjoy Weight Cuts
Despite the weight difference, Doumbe is not deterred. He acknowledges that Paul is bigger in size but prefers to stay fit rather than go through weight cuts. Doumbe stated, "I like when I'm fit. I don't like to do the weight cut."
