All interim belt holders have lost their titles.

However, there are many opportunities for fighters.

Michael Benson says that former interim champions will now be subject to one of two fates.

Some will be placed in the 'final eliminators.

Others will be automatically promoted to mandatory challenger status.

Eubank Jr., 31 was an interim champion in middleweight back in 2015.

The belt was won by him in December 2019 in New York, against Russian Matt Korobov.

Marcus Morrison was the last to defend it in May, when the star at 30-2 was there.

Eubank Jr. could be fighting Ryota Mrata, the WBA's super middleweight champion.

Otherwise he could face their ‘regular’ champ Erislandy Lara.

Londoner Dubois, meanwhile, bounced back from his loss to Joe Joyce by beating Bogdan Dinu and picking up the WBA’s interim heavyweight title in June.

His next fight is already set, with the 23-year-old taking on Joe Cusumano in Cleveland during Sunday’s Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley undercard.
