Since then, the Brighton middleweight revealed that his legendary old man, 56-year-old Chris Sr, has been in touch with him to confirm his participation in the 157lbs second generation scrap.
He hopes that photos and videos of Conor (25), and Nigel (25), a bitter 1990s rival - who Sr holds one victory over and a controversial shared draw - have sparked the competitive fire in his dad to get the family feud back on track.
SunSport heard him tell SunSport from his Hove bunker of an gym that he knew his old man would be there for me. He has to be part of this.
"We are here because he and Nigel. Without them and their experiences, there would be no Conor and me.
"My elderly man has not been around me for a while, but it feels right and it feels good. It will be fun to have him back.
"He will be straight into the gym, and, I'm sure, talking with you newspapers about this fight.
"I'm sure that seeing the Benn family set up camp and train together lit a spark in him.
"Nigel dreams of the day when he can be back in the ring-like environment with my old man. This is the closest he will get.
"So this is going light a fire under the a*** of his a*** for certain."
After legendary rivalries with Benn and Steve Collins, Joe Calzaghe, Carl Thompson, Eubank Sr became a British boxing icon.
However, his passion for the sport and his ruthless aggression seem to have changed drastically after his second war with Michael Watson in 1991. He was left with severe injuries.
Eubank Jr. was constantly protected from the brutal sport, the even more brutal business, and warned of all the physical and mental pains of the industry.
He couldn't resist the temptation to follow his father's lead and has since convinced his father of his ability to win the hurt business and the mega-money showdown.
The showman stated, "I didn’t have to convince [him] of this fight."
"I made the decision. He may not be happy, but it was mine to make.
"I must get in there and fight.
"I'm sure that he now sees the excitement and interest of the public - I don't mean the mainstream, nonboxing-fan public. He can see how huge this fight could be.
"Because it is huge, he has come to the realization that it is possible and is willing to take part."
