Instead, dad Sr. has taken the back seat as No1 supporter against cornerman.

After the announcement that he would fight Benn, 30 years after their legendary rematch, Eubank Jr. is eager to welcome his father back.

TalkSPORT was informed by him that he would like his old man to fight with him in this type of fight. That would be great.

Roy told me he would stand by me for the rest my career. This is the fight I would have my old man there.

"Just because we all understand what it means. But I don’t know if the man wants to be in that corner. That’s the question.

"We need to determine where his head is with that, and then we'll decide what we should do."

Problem is that Sr, the British boxing icon, has not been heard from since the news about the catchweight clash.

Eubank Jr. said that he has not heard anything from Eubank Jr. since the fight was announced. This is incredible to me.

"He was always there for me, especially early in my career. In the corner, at weigh-ins and press conferences.

"And for my biggest fight, he has gone missing. It's unbelievable to believe, but it's what has happened.

"I'm still waiting for the phone call. I'm just waiting for him to come through the door and say, "Okay, son, let's do it."

"It's fascinating, but we'll get to it eventually and we will figure it out.

October 8th will see the renewal of the family feud at O2 Arena.

His father won the first epic battle against Nigel, his arch nemesis, before they drew in 1993.

Their prizefighter sons were left to continue the rivalry three decades later after the trilogy was not realized.

Benn plans to also draft his father and mentor as inspiration for the camp.

He stated, "Listen dad's been driving you mad every day. He says, 'When am I coming over? When am I coming over?'

"My dad is an incredible character to have at the gym."
