CHRIS EUBANK JR’S promoters have opened up the possibility of a blockbuster bout against Conor Benn in a sensational next-generation contest.
Eubank Jr.'s father Chris was a fighter against Benn's dad Nigel twice in the 1990s, in what are considered two of the most important British dust-ups.
Chris Eubank is close to another world title shot, following the footsteps of his father
Chris defeated Nigel in 1990's fight for the WBO middleweight championship. They then faced off in the centre of ring again in a unification bout three years later.
WBC and WBO super middleweights straps were at stake, but the bout ended in draw.
Team Sauerland, Eubank Jr.'s promoters, took to social media to announce that there will be a match-up of the sons down the line.
This is despite Eubank Jr, middleweight star, competing in two weight classes higher than Benn, undefeated welterweight ace.
Eubank Jr. weighed an 11st 10lbs in October's victory against Wanik Awdijan. Benn weighed 10st 4lbs Saturday's devastating knockout win over Chris Algieri.
Team Sauerland tweeted "You know where, some special night in not too distant Eubank v Benn will occur the next generation."
"And we will more than happy make that happen."
At this point, neither boxer has called out the other over a possible fight.
Eubank Jr. is currently training for his fight against Liam Williams on January 29th. The former knows that a win could land him a second world title shot.
Benn just came off a career-best performance in his fight against Algieri, a former world champion who was knocked out in the fourth round of Liverpool.
In his quest to improve the quality of his opponents, he called out Amir Khan vs Kellbrook.
In his post-fight interview, he stated that these weren't tests. Although it sounds arrogant, it's actually just confidence.
"I am ranked number five with two governing bodies and top five for a reason. Algieri is the only one who has ever done this.
Before I add: "2022, get my Khan-Brook winner, I see them talking. Brook was my friend, but business is business. I will have the winner, whoever they are.
"If they don’t want it we’ll fight [Adrien] Broner here in America. If Broner doesn't want it I think my chances against [Yordenis] Ugas are slim."
