CONOR BENN is in talks to fight UFC star Conor McGregor's ex-boxing sparring partner Chris van Heerden.
Benn, a highly ranked unbeaten contender in welterweight, will fight either Van Heerden or Maurice Hooker on April 16.
Benn also wants to fight Eubank Jr
Van Heerden has not fought since 2020, when his fight against Jaron ENNIS was stopped in round one due to a cut that he sustained.
In his 16-year professional career, the South African only fought two top-tier fighters in Ennis Jr and Errol Spence Jr. Both of these fights were lost.
Benn said to iFL TV that Mcgregor's ex-sparring companion had been fighting him.
"We got mid-April. The opponent should be confirmed. I'm hearing Van Heerden, I'm hearing Maurice Hooker.
"Maurice Hooker declined the fight three times.
"It's funny that he gets his level and then they don’t want these risky fights with these ex-world champions.
"Those are the names you want. April 16th, I hear. "I'll just make certain I'm prepared."
Benn would be open to fighting Chris Eubank Jr. in a mega-money showdown of the second generation.
Fathers Nigel & Chris fought twice in 90s with Eubank Sr. The first fight ended in a win, and the second in a draw.
Benn, 32, said that Eubank Jr. was fighting him in a fight.
"I currently weigh in at super-middle (12st), but if my top is up, I still have abs. It is not a lie that I smoke, but people think it.
"I feel strong at 154lbs (11st) and I am walking at super-middle.
"I sparred middleweights in my training and flew in a supermiddle from France to fight my last fight.
"I like to fight bigger guys. I am a big fan of fighting larger men. I've sparred with cruiserweights before.
"They come to the gym thinking that they can impose their weight upon you, and then I let 2-3-4 punches fall and they don’t want me to know."
