The former WBC super-middleweight champion couldn’t help but see the funny side

Conor’s 26th birthday has fallen smack bang in the middle of the final training camp push, which dad Nigel tried to lighten the mood by bringing him some cake after some hard rounds with Felix Cash.

But British boxing legend Nigel was left with globs of the chocolate gateaux on his nose after Conor pushed it into his face.

Former WBC super-middleweight king Nigel brought the little cake out and sang Happy Birthday to his son.

Conor said: “I can’t eat that, put it away. I’m 100 per cent [committed], mate. 100 per cent.”

Nigel replied: “I’ll do it for you.”

Conor blew out the candles before receiving a peck on the cheek from his old man – who he surprised by pushing the plate in his face.

As the gym erupted in laughter, Nigel jokingly said: “F***ing hell.”

Nigel saw the funny side of the prank as he made his way to the bathroom to wash his face.

And he even took the time to try a dollop of the cake on his face, which he appeared to enjoy.

Surging welterweight Benn will be fighting at nearly a stone heavier for his showdown with Eubank Jr – whom he’ll face at 157lbs.

Conor’s old man suffered a ninth-round TKO defeat in his first clash with Eubank Sr in 1990 and fought “English” to a split draw in their rematch three years later.

But he doesn’t feel under any pressure to avenge his father’s loss to his former bitter rival.

He said: “I work extremely hard. I leave everything in the gym. I do as much as I can, I do the best I can.

“Why have I got to feel the pressure? I’ve done this too many times, I’ve entertained too many times for this to now just go, all of a sudden, it’s going to make me crumble.”

The hard-hitting Conor is confident of adding Eubank Jr’s name to his list of victims.

He said: “I’m confident in beating any man. I work hard enough, I know what I’m made of, I know what I can do.

“Whoever it is. I do what I’m supposed to do and more. It’s not just about beating someone, it’s how you look beating someone.

“You can’t take away from the victories I’ve had. Call me delusional, call me very confident, call me what you want. I believe I can be the first man to stop Chris.”
