CONOR BEN hammered out Chris Algieri, a respected American veteran. He was awarded the KO of The Year for his 20th professional win.
The 37-year old had been dropped by the 25-yearold with a second punch, almost knocking him out of the VIP seats.
He waited to the fourth round, after displaying his defensive skills, before destroying the visitor with a rocket of the right hand.
Algieri's remarkable record was shattered by three defeats: points against Manny Pacquio, a Filipino legend, and Amir Khan. Also, a KO loss to Errol Spence Jr.
Benn has also warned that he is fast approaching the world title contention.
Algieri was booed in the ring by the UK crowd who have taken Conor to their hearts through the exploits and father Nigel, two-weight world champion.
Although the taller veteran raced through the ring immediately after the bell rang, a few Benn rights and a few more clubbing soon made his boxing less frantic.
The Brit fell on his stomach and avoided punches, much like his pompous father.
They were a bit concerned when Algieri landed the flush left hook that would have impressed them but Benn has seen his chin improve as much as his boxing skills.
The second saw the Essex father-of-1 slash hooks into Algieri’s long torso, but the New Yorker refused to shake his head when Benn attempted to smash a one-two through Benn's high guard.
Algieri was almost knocked out by a peach of left hook towards the end of the session.
He was caught off guard by the Destroyer's perfectly timed dig. He then rolled into a forward roll that nearly took him out of the ropes, but he beat the count to make it to the bell.
Benn was excellent in the third. He landed three-punch combinations with straights and hooks, and defended like an amateur.
Algieri was injured in the fourth by a right-hand to his stomach, but his extraordinary conditioning as a middle-aged man helped the injury.
The right hand that was rammed into his skull seconds later couldn't be managed.
Algieri was unable to keep his guard up because the jab had it teed up.
The courageous American got up and sank forward.
Benn displayed great control and speed in the split second when he had another opportunity to leather the man who was stricken as he fell on the canvas.
Algieri was able to take advantage of Benn's timing and land the punch at the right moment, allowing him fall to the ground without any follow-up.
He was able to regain his senses and be a good friend.
Conor grinned after his amazing victory.
"What else do I need to do?" Perhaps I am just being irritable, but I don't earn the rankings I have for free.
"I put him down and I don't think you can expect anything more." "I knew the knockout was coming."
Nigel, proud father and boxing legend, added that Conor made his own way in this fight. He is no longer in my shadow.
"I watched him train doing 15-minute rounds of four-minute rounds with 30-second breaks so I knew it wouldn't go the distance.
"It was amazing and he is continuing all the way."
