Failed Drugs Test
Conor Benn's hopes of returning to the boxing ring have been dashed as the UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) appeal against the lifting of his provisional ban. The 26-year-old welterweight is fighting to clear his name after two failed tests in the lead-up to his cancelled October fight with Chris Eubank Jr.
Appeal Process
Despite a video-call hearing with the National Anti-Doping Panel resulting in the lifting of the ban, UKAD has taken action within their 21-day window of opportunity to file an appeal. This move has left Benn's future in limbo as the appeals process could take up to two months.

Focus on the UK
Benn, who has successfully gained an American license, is keen to resume his career in the UK, where promoter Eddie Hearn is eagerly awaiting his comeback. However, with the appeal against the lifting of his ban, Benn may now face a longer delay before stepping back into the ring.
Benn's Last Fight and Ban Length
Benn's last fight took place in April 2022 when he defeated Chris van Heerden in Manchester. If Benn is unable to win his case, he could face a ban of up to two years for testing positive for the female fertility drug clomiphene.
Comparison to Whyte's Case
Benn's battle against his ban comes in the wake of Dillian Whyte's cancellation of his bout with Anthony Joshua. Whyte returned adverse findings in his Vada tests ahead of their scheduled rematch on August 12.
