Dan Azeez, a sparring partner of Artur Beterbiev, says that the deadly punches of Artur Beterbiev left his gym-mates black and blue.

The Terrifying Experience

When Dan Azeez was summoned to spar with boxing champion Artur Beterbiev, he had no idea what he was getting himself into. The WBC, IBF, and WBO champion brought Azeez all the way from London to his training base in Canada. But it was during a car ride with one of the existing sparring partners that Azeez realized the brutal reality of the situation. The partner, already bearing the marks of a bloody battle, shared a simple piece of advice: "Just keep your hands up." Azeez couldn't help but feel a mix of fear and excitement as he prepared to face one of the best fighters in the world.

Hit Like a Pole

Artur Beterbiev is renowned not only for his skills but also for his power. With a perfect KO ratio of 100%, he has stopped all 19 of his opponents. Azeez, having experienced Beterbiev's punches first-hand, described the sensation as being "hit with a pole." The Russian's strength and precision left Azeez feeling the full force of his blows, reminding him of the Terminator persona that Beterbiev embodies in the ring.

A Surprising Personality

Although Beterbiev maintains a stoic look in the ring, there is more to him than meets the eye. Despite his limited English, Azeez discovered that Beterbiev has a sense of humor and often makes jokes. Behind the fierce fighter is a humble and respectful individual. Azeez likened Beterbiev to his upcoming opponent, Joshua Buatsi, who also possesses a similar dichotomy of aggression in the ring and a friendly persona outside of it.

Next in Line for a Championship Belt

Azeez is currently focused on his upcoming fight against Buatsi, set to take place at the O2 Arena on October 21. The winner of this London derby will earn a shot at the WBA belt, currently held by Dmitry Bivol. Beterbiev, the only titleholder without the WBA belt, will undoubtedly be watching the outcome closely. Azeez feels confident going into the fight, thanks to his rigorous training sessions with Beterbiev and his ability to withstand the champion's power.

Be sure to catch the fight between Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez live on Sky Sports on October 21 at The O2 in London. Tickets are available via BOXXER.com.
