David Haye believes that Tyson Fury will "raise his game" and defeat Deontay Wilder, despite having problems with training camp

DAVID HAYE backs Tyson Fury in his quest to improve and defeat Deontay Wilder, despite an "shocking” training camp.

The Gypsy King, 33 years old, caught covid-19 in July and cancelled the original 24th WBC World Title Defense he had booked.

Then Athena, his daughter, was prematurely born at the beginning of August. He never flew to Las Vegas until September 18.

Haye believes Fury is against it, despite Andy Lee being absent from the team due to media commitments in the first week.

The Hayemaker stated: "If his camp is that short, it is shocking. But Tyson has proven time and again that he raises the bar when he truly has to.

"When he beat Deontay wilder (February 2020), and Vladimir Klitschko (2015), he had his back against a wall and people excluding him. His performances went through the roof."

"In other fights, like the Otto Wallin one, he has struggled through and not looked quite as good.

"Is his heart set to this fight or are he just going through all the motions - his heart was sent to the Anthony Joshua fight that has now failed?

"Maybe Tyson has Deontay Wilder on his list now, he just has him in his pocket. It could happen. We'll find out on Saturday."

Fury viewed Oleksandr Usyk's shocking loss to AJ from his Sin City home and said he was hurt by the PS200million fight.

Haye, who had two fights with the Gypsy King cancelled prior to his retirement, thinks that this could be a persistent hangover.

He stated that "all of us fighters love the pound note so it will be disappointing but he never really rated Anthony. He has spoken out quite publicly about this.

"Fury's opinions are now right, because Joshua couldn't outbox him.

Fury may be disappointed that he didn't get the chance to fight Usyk against AJ.

"It's a pity the fight never took place but I think AJ believed he could outbox Usyk - then he never rated him properly.

"The winner of Saturday's fight will show who is the man in the division. Usyk against the winner will get everyone very excited - so long as AJ beats him again in the rematch."

BT Sport Box Office will broadcast Fury v Wilder: The Trilogy live in the UK exclusively on Saturday, 9 October. For more info go to www.bt.com/sportboxoffice.
