Former heavyweight champion David Haye expresses satisfaction over Tyson Fury's postponed fight with Usyk due to a cut

Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has revealed that he had secretly wished for Tyson Fury to sustain a fight-postponing cut, after being trolled by Fury for pulling out of their 2013 showdown. Haye had to withdraw from the grudge match due to a nasty cut sustained during a sparring session. Fury's undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk has been postponed after he suffered a horror cut this week.

Haye recalls Fury's relentless abuse and revels in his misfortune

Haye has been irked by Fury's claims that he deliberately got cut to avoid their fight. In a video on social media, Haye stated, "I, myself, suffered a cut a week before the fight and did I not hear the end of it from him? Even to this day, I still hear, 'He only got cut because he just didn't wanna fight him, you're scared.'" Haye expressed his satisfaction at Fury suffering a similar cut just days before his fight with Usyk, stating, "Since he's been that much of a d*** about it. And here we are."

Fury's tweets about the cut go viral

Fury's tweets, in which he lambasted Haye for pulling out of their fight, went viral shortly after the announcement of the postponement of his clash with Usyk. The WBC heavyweight champion confirmed the cut's authenticity and stated that one cannot box with such a wound.

Recovery time estimated at three months

Fury had to receive 15 stitches to close the wound that was re-opened by sparring partner Agron Smakici. Jorge Capetillo, Fury's cutman, estimates that it will take at least three months for the cut to fully heal. Capetillo hopes that the fight can still happen in the summer, but emphasizes the importance of allowing Fury enough time to recover.

"Accidents can happen in sparring, and this is what has happened with Tyson so he will need time to heal," Capetillo explained. "It will now reopen during the fight if they continued into the fight so now he needs time out to make sure it doesn't open up with a first punch from Oleksandr Usyk."

The cutman also commended Fury's work ethic and discipline, stating that the fighter had been working hard and was hungry for the Usyk fight. However, Capetillo acknowledged that cuts are part of the sport and that precautions must be taken to ensure the fighter's safety.
