SunSport announced last week that Wilder (35), was in contention to fight Robert Helenius, his former sparring partner, in his comeback bout.
According to Boxing Scene, the fight will be held on October 15.
The Barclays Center in Brooklyn is the leading contender to win the Bronze Bomber's return.
Wilder is well-versed in Helenius's power and has sparred Fury before his third encounter with Fury.
Wilder has been increasing his training over the last weeks. He was recently seen getting back into the groove at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas.
After being brutally defeated by Fury in the 11th round at Sin City, retirement seemed possible for the American.
The Alabama slammer roared recently: "I can’t stop right now."
"I must continue my path. "I must, I must.
"I am looking to resume my career. There are many other things that I need to do.
"I'm taking my children away if they come back, because now my life is full of joy like I want.
"I have sacrificed so much in order to be in this place in my life. To be able live my life the way I want it to for the rest of their lives."
He said, "I've been highly sought after. Many people have said to me, "Come back, please." I would say that I am back because of popular demand.
"The business of boxing requires me. There's nothing quite like a thriving American champion.
"When there isn't, you can see that it's dead. It's drought in the sport. The difference is now well-known."
