HEAVYWEIGHT Deontay Wester claimed that a Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua unification bout was 'never going be happening'.
Before the Bronze Bomber was dispatched, the British stars were expected to face off against each other.
Deontay Wilder prepares to fight Tyson Fury
Wilder spoke to BT Sport and said that the Fury AJ talk was not going to come to fruition. They didn't have a contract, it was just propaganda.
"I was not concerned because I knew the truth.
"Some people and fans just grab the first thing they hear, without doing any research. They just get it.
"People today want to be first, rather than being right. That was the reality.
One thing is certain: When you apply black ink on white paper, it's sealed. This is called a contract. It's difficult to break this contract.
"As long I knew that I had the contract and we were going to activate it," there weren't any words or concerns about this talk. It only hyped people up."
BETTING SPECIAL GET 30/1 ON FURY OR 50/1 ON WILDER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CLASHFury (33) and Joshua (31), were both expected to meet in Saudi Arabia in August for the undisputed title of heavyweight champion in the world.
The fight was stopped by a judge who ordered that the Gypsy King face Wilder, 35.
They will now face off in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night to compete for the WBC belt. This will finally end their long-running dispute.
After Fury's blockbuster meeting collapsed, AJ fought undefeated Oleksandr Uzyk (34), in September... with devastating results.
The Brit lost a point to the Ukrainian and must win a rematch in order to keep his hopes alive of a undisputed clash against Fury.
Wilder, however, is not holding his breath. He insists that Joshua was not surprised by the second defeat.
American added, "Malik [Scott Wilder's trainer] always talks to Usyk about how skilled he is and other things.
"Coming from a cruiserweight... He definitely had his struggles. That was what we saw with Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora.
"But styles are what make fights, and Joshua just had his number at that time in history.
"And I believe he's going have his number more the second time around.
"Like he [Usyk] stated, he will be faster and I believe he will be a bit faster as well.
"But who knows?" It's boxing at the end. "Until it's time to make things happen, we don't really know."
