Former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has issued a threat to fly to the UK to face off with Anthony Joshua, claiming that the British boxer is "afraid" of him. As Joshua prepares for a clash with Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, Wilder is eager to arrange a fight with his fellow former champion. Despite being out of the ring since October 2022, Wilder remains ready for an AJ showdown and has even threatened to make the trip across the pond to meet Joshua in person.
Wilder: "Me and You Is the Biggest Fight in the World, Bro"
Speaking on Blue Blood Sports TV, Wilder expressed his frustration with Joshua's apparent reluctance to face him. He said, "I just don't know what's up with Joshua, bro. Maybe I'm gonna have to go to England and sit down with him on some real man s***... I don't want him to feel like I have anything against him, but I know he's afraid of me... Joshua – me and you is the biggest fight in the world, bro, what are you doing? I really wanna talk to that dude."
Long-Awaited Showdown Still Elusive
Promoter Eddie Hearn has been promising a fight between Wilder and Joshua for quite some time, but a deal was agreed upon and subsequently fell through. Hearn has placed blame on Wilder for not wanting to fight, while Joshua has hinted that the bout could take place on the undercard of the Usyk vs. Fury clash. Despite his recent inactivity, Wilder boasts an impressive record of 42 knockouts out of 43 wins, while Joshua has 23 knockouts in 26 victories.
Joshua is planning on another fight in December before taking on the former WBC champion. He has bounced back from back-to-back defeats against Usyk with underwhelming triumphs against Robert Helenius and Jermaine Franklin.
