Deontay Wilder will be on vacation before returning to training "in a few weeks".

After sustaining an injury in the thrilling, but exhausting fight, he needed surgery to repair his right hand.

Wilder will now have some down time before returning to work.

World Boxing News reported that Malik Scott, his trainer, said: "Deontay stated he was going on vacation. And I'm all in favor of that."

"And in a couple months, we will be back at camp and he'll still be fighting."

Wilder, 36, received a six-month suspension medically after Fury's defeat. He can return to the ring in April.

Scott stated, "We should be back at camp, in my view, no later than March, and fight in May."

"Or, we might be back at camp before March. It all depends on his recovery, how he feels, and how everything is going.

Wilder, who in round four of their trio twice floored Fury, was then dropped three more times before being finally knocked out.

The former champion, however, was a resilient man who never gave up and was able to restore his reputation even when he lost.

The Bronze Bomber has exciting prospects of winning super-fights with Andy Ruiz Jr., Anthony Joshua, and Dillian Whyte.

Scott, however, warned that their return bout would be a step down in level but not a major one.

He stated: "With Deontay obviously, the first battle back is not going be at the same level that he just left. It is important to do things right.

"But at the exact same time, we cannot go lower than that because he is a high entertainment revenue fighter.

"He is big-time boxing. Deontay is a danger to us all.

"It won't necessarily be Fury level, but it will not be someone down in the bucket. We won't get anyone with a record of 27-11.

"That is not going to happen. It must be a name fans know."

Wilder played a significant role in the creation of what was an instant hit in Sin City, despite his loss.

Scott could even sit back and enjoy the action, while Scott could also look back at it to see what went wrong.

He said, "It was so great. It was a great fight. Deontay would stand on his own feet and Fury would be down.

"REAL BATTLE of the GIANTS"

"Then Fury would return, and then he'd knock Fury down and Fury would get back up.

"There were some shots Fury was hitting Deontay that showed he was on fumes.

"He caught Deontay one time with a shot from the blindside. Deontay took that shot, and continued fighting.

"Fury kept coming forward. I have never seen a trio of gutsy balls at this level in the heavyweight division.

"That was a battle of giants. I considered Fury a very, very good fighter before the fight.

"After the fight I gave him credit and called him great fighter because he beat great fighters."
