It took months of negotiations before Devin Haney was able to challenge George Kambosos Jr. for the undisputed lightweight title.
Haney, WBC champion at 135lbs was last against JoJoDiaz back in December. He won on points.
Kambosos Jr stunned the world by becoming the WBA/WBO, IBF, Ring Magazine titleholder in November. He defeated Teofimo Lopez via split vote.
Discussions with Kambosos Jr.'s next opponent began immediately, with Vasyl Lombenko being the early favourite to win the fight in Australia.
Loma's decision, after Russia's invasion, to stop boxing allowed Haney to sit at the table.
Haney, who has signed with Top Rank, Lou DiBella and Top Rank, will travel to Oz to face Kambosos Jr. with all the marbles on line - and without the presence or trainer Bill.
