In 2015, he lost to AJ via TKO.

In an all-out brawl, the Body Snatcher defeated the future world champion by winning unanimous points.

But Whyte later admitted that he did not receive the full amount for the fight, but he was very content with the pay check.

Carl Froch interviewed him about his experience. He said: "I recall, I had an amateur fighting somewhere and I beat that guy. The coach came to me and gave me like 300 quid. And he said, ‘this is your ex’. I was like, 'What?'

"So, you're saying that I get paid to beat up people? He replied, "Yeah, here's your ex's".

"So, I was shocked, because I didn't come from a sporting background and I haven't had a big amateur career.

"I didn't have anyone to look after me or tell me what to do, and no one in my family was sport-wise."

33-year-old Whyte added, "I didn’t know how it worked. My coach asked if you wanted to fight, and I said yes, cool, no matter what, I’ll fight anybody.

"So he came and gave me [the cash] and I said, "so you're telling us I can beat up guys and don't get into trouble and I get paid." I was like, "When is the next fight?"

Joshua and Whyte both made it to the professional ranks after a successful amateur career.

They met again in December 2015. Joshua, 31, won via knockout in round 7, after Whyte had rocked him in the first.
