ANTHONY JOSHUA was 'gun shy, negative and lacking ambition' in his fight against Oleksandr Uzyk.
This is the opinion of Dillian Whyte, a fellow Brit who slammed AJ following his defeat to the Ukrainian in London last Saturday.
This is Dillian Whyte, a fellow British heavyweight.
Joshua was unable to use his 18lb weight advantage against Usyk, the former cruiserweight king. Usyk landed a series of heavy southpaw shots during the bout at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
The Ukrainian won the White Hart Lane unanimously with 117-112, 112-112, and 115-113.
Joshua later admitted that he couldn't see out of his right side eye after the ninth round.
However, Whyte believes that the Brit should have won this fight long before then. He could have done it if he was braver.
BBC 5 Live, The Body Snatcher said: "I told Joshua that if he tried to box, he would always lose."
He could have knocked him out in just the first round if he had not pushed the pace and bullied him.
He came out, and he was being negative. He seemed like a gun-shy fighter. Give it a shot, you're the larger man.
"I don’t know. He lacked ambition in that ring there tonight.
"In the first round Usyk was the dominant fighter and Joshua was a negative one.
"He was worried all the time when he got tagged with a right."
Eddie Hearn advised AJ that he had to trigger the Usyk rematch clause as soon as possible or risk losing his belts.
Otto Wallin will be facing Whyte at the O2 on 30 October - a fight he is expected win.
The Brixton scrapper also said that he would be willing to go toe-toe with Usyk in a shoot-out if given the opportunity.
He said, "I must first go through Wallin. After that we will see."

"But, I'm telling you, I won't lose to an overall decision like this, I can tell that now.
"I will go out, and I will have an intense shoot-out. If I get knocked down, I get knocked-out."
"But, I will have a shot-out, I'm not getting out boxed for 12 rounds like that. No chance."
