Dillian Whyte vs Tyson Fury purse bid delay as heated argument over Gypsy King's 80-20 split intensifies

Dillian Whyte and Tyson Fury have delayed the purse bids for Battle of Britain with Dillian whyte until January 18, amid ongoing disputes over their splits.

Late last year, the WBC ruled that Fury would be split 80/20 of the purse.

Frank Warren, the promoter of the fight, has confirmed that purse bids have been delayed by a week.

Whyte, a Brixton banger, was furious at the split and has taken legal action to make sure he gets a larger slice.

Frank Warren, Fury's copromoter, has disclosed that further negotiations have delayed the January 11 purse bids.

TalkSPORT's Queensberry Promotions chief stated that the purse bid had been delayed by one week.

"That was done on Saturday, so the purse bid will take place seven days later so I believe it's Monday or Tuesday.

"They have the right to appeal regarding the split. They won't get anywhere, as purse bids are based on boxers' past earnings.

"Tyson's last purse [was] lodged at the WBC was PS20million and Dillian Whyte was PS300,000. That's why it is at the split it is at.

"One situation I can recall in the last year was when Canelo fought against Billy Joe Saunders' mandatory. But Billy had just made a deal.

"There was no way that he was going get any 45 per cent of a purse, because Canelo is the one who makes the most money from the two of them."

Warren believes Whyte's appeal to the WBC's ruling won't be heard.

He said, "Certainly when Tyson is generating as much money as Tyson does, there won't be any kind of split."

"This isn't something new. This has been going on for at least 25 years. This is the way most organisations operate and it's how it works.

"They can appeal to their appeal. Nobody would, in any way, from our perspective, say that you can't do it. But the fact is, I don't believe it will make any difference."

Eddie Hearn, Whyte's promoter, believes that the interim WBC heavyweight champion deserves more than what is currently on offer

TalkSPORT was informed by him that there are not many negotiations. The WBC has ruled that there will be an 80/20 split.

"We don’t agree with it and we don’t feel like accepting that so that will be appealed to via the WBC via arbitration or via a legal proceeding.

"We'll need to continue looking until that ruling is made.

Eddie Hearn, promoter believes Dillian Whyte should get a larger slice of the pie

"If that's our final decision and we have to go for purse bids for that bout, we will bid the amount we think the fight is worth.

According to Dillian Whyte's bids and offers, "Clearly we have a very different valuation of that value right now than other people."

WBC heavyweight champion Fury will defend his title in the second defense on March 26 with or without a mandatory challenger Whyte.
