Dillian Whyte will be required to become WBC compliant for the winner of Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder’s trilogy following Anthony Joshua's defeat

DILLIAN WHYTE may be mandatory for the winner Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder of Deontay's Trilogy after Anthony Joshua's death.

Joshua lost his WBA, IBF, and WBO belts in Oleksandr Usyk's hands. He was unable to unify the division.

A rematch is scheduled to follow. It could take some time before Usyk or AJ could put the titles up for a title decider.

Eddie Hearn, promoter of Fury, believes that the WBC will now have the opportunity to mandate Whyte's strap.

Hearn stated to iFL TV that "as long as Dillian defeats Otto Wallin then Whyte must be the winner of that fight immediately.

It's impossible not to. Dillian, who would have liked AJ to win 100 percent, is not like that.

"He is now a mandatory challenger to Wilder-Fury.

"So, now, while we wait for the undisputed fight which, if they do happen, will likely happen next summer.

"The Wilder-Fury winner will likely fight the Whyte-Wallin winner, as they will have to call the mandatory."

Whyte was the WBC's No1 ranking contender for over 1,000 days before he was finally elected as mandatory challenger.

His title shot was ended in smoke in August 2020 after a shocking knockout loss to Alexander Povetkin.

After winning the first round against Povetkin (41), Whyte, 33, returned the favor in the fourth round to secure his place as the next in line for WBC title.

Joshua, who was 33 when he was in talks to unify with Fury, 31, the WBC hadn't officially made their mandatory.

Fury was then ordered to his contracted tri-fibre bout with Wilder (35), set for October 9.

Joshua was then required to defend his belts, 34-year-old Usyk. This ended in defeat.

He will now exercise his right for an immediate rematch. This will end any unifications hopes.

As long as Whyte defeats Otto Wallin (30 on October 30), he will be in line to face Fury and Wilder.

Hearn stated that it was a very interesting situation. It's possible for anything to happen.

"In an ideal universe, Tyson Fury would beat Deontay Wilder. The mandatory is called to Dillian Whyte.

"Dillian Whyte beats Tyson Fury and AJ beats Usyk. Then we had Whyte against AJ to decide the undisputed summer."
