PROMOTER Eddie Hearn named Chris Arreola, an American, as the "frontrunner" to face Dillian Whyte.
As he pursues his goal of becoming a heavyweight world champion, The Brixton Bodysnatcher (33), is currently looking for his next opponent.
Dillian Whyte is on the lookout for his next opponent
Hearn spoke to talkSPORT and stated that "with everything opening up [it's]] the opportunity for [him] to fight at the O2 once again."
"It has been more than two years since he boxed in the UK before fans. Chris Arreola is likely the frontrunner.
Whyte was last seen fighting against Oscar Rivas in front of a UK crowd in July 2019.
He has fought Mariusz Wach twice in Saudi Arabia and Alexander Povetkin once each, once in Hearn’s garden and once at Gibraltar.
Although Whyte lost his fight against Povetkin, it was only his second loss in his career, he redeemed himself and won the March rematch.
Arreola (40) has been a challenger for the title of world heavyweight three times. He has also fought Andy Ruiz Jr., Deontay wilder, and Vitali Klitschko.
Hearn said: "That's my favorite fight because Arreola brings a battle every time he fights. He just had a great fight against Andy Ruiz and Dillian wants Andy Ruiz to fight him."
"So that would make a great statement to fight him.
"We're going to do another huge show at O2, and we've got an upcoming press conference tomorrow to announce some exciting news.
"Dillian Whyte is back at his best in all-out wars on the O2 as normality is upon him."
Hearn stated that Whyte is unlikely to win a world title fight. He said, "I don’t think he has ever been satisfied because we all feel we haven’t got what’s fair with WBC.
"But it's like an unbroken record, isn’t it?" Legally, that will continue in the background. But he has to get out there and do what he needs.
"Fight, entertain and have fun. Keep pushing his cause.
"Fights such as Arreola – that will be picked-up on a significant degree in America - will keep pushing his profile, pushing the fact that it is he deserves a shot to the world title.
