Don King welcomes "Rumble in The Jungle 2" as Ilunga Makabu threatens To KO Canelo alvarez... just like Ali did to Foreman

Don King, an ICONIC promoter, has welcomed 'Rumble in The Jungle 2’ after Ilunga Makabu threatened that Canelo Alvarez would be expelled.

King staged the arguably most iconic fight of all times in 1974 when Muhammad Ali defeated George Foreman in Zaire. This is now called The Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Fast forward 48 years, and the 90 year-old is ready for it all over again with Makabu, 34-year-old cruiserweight champion, and Canelo (31-year-old Mexican superstar).

Alvarez asked King to fight the Congo's WBC champion last November - and King is well aware of the circumstances.

SunSport interviewed him in an exclusive interview. He said that Canelo was the one who had challenged Makabu.

"Canelo will fight Makabu, Makabu says that he wants to fight and accepts to fight."

"Makabu suggested it could be Rumble In The Jungle 2; we can go back home to Zaire with major, major attractions.

"He said, "I'm from Zaire. That's where the famous Rumble in The Jungle between Muhammad Ali & George Foreman took place."

Makabu stated, "I'm going do to Canelo what Muhammad Ali did George Foreman, and that's knocking you out."

"Now, I don’t know if that’s going to scare Alvarez or not, but it’s something we can do to fight Canelo Alvarez, one of the most formidable fighters today."

King has been associated with some of the greatest names in boxing, such as Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson, over his SIX decades of involvement.

The veteran American boxer cannot contain his excitement at the possibility of promoting boxing's current pound for pound best for the first-time.

King is well-aware of the dark arts used in sport by power brokers - which is arguably the most important one.

He expects a fight to get Canelo signed, with nearly every promoter trying their luck in boxing.

King stated: "We are two of the most well-known people who work for greatness. We have never come together. So for me, it would be an honor and pleasure to promote Canelo."

"But, I also know Satan works 24/7 and everyone and their brother are trying to derail the fight and they're trying bribe Canelo.

"Doublecrossing, backstab, and betrayal are all possible ways to stop Makabu fighting Canelo.

"We'll watch and see what happens, whether good works triumph over evil or evil continues to dominate.

"We're going deal with it, and we're ready to you Canelo. I'm delivering an important message. It's: 'Come on. Let's get it done.'

"And that's Illunga Junior Makabu."
