Dustin Poirier opens to boxing match against Conor McGregor, bitter rival intensifies training for UFC summer return

DUSTIN POIRIER revealed that he is open to a fourth fight with Conor McGregor, inside the boxing ring.

Poirier, 32 years old, has been in the octagon with UFC's poster man three times and is currently leading the series 2-1.

The former interim lightweight champion flirted with The Notorious about the possibility of a fourth fight and admitted that he would also be open to facing his opponent inside the squared circle.

Poirier responded to a Twitter question about McGregor boxing during an impromptu Twitter Q&A: "Book it."

Many MMA fans commented on Poirier's willingness and ability to box the former two division champion. One said, "I'd prefer to see the fourth fight than a bout of boxing."

Another replied, "Nah bro! We need a quadrilogy inside the cage!"

Another said, "That would be a really great fight to see."

One commented: "Dustin is Conor's number. East money for Dustin."

McGregor and Poirier, former featherweight rivals, fought twice in 2021. The first time was the winner.

McGregor was knocked out by The Diamond in the Abu Dhabi rematch. McGregor then won a first round TKO victory in their Las Vegas trilogy fight six month later.

McGregor, 33, broke his leg in the Sin City Series decider. He's still recovering.

The Irishman has been working hard in rehab and the gym over the past few months. He is hoping to return to sparring in April.

UFC chief Dana White believes Mystic Mac may be ready to return to the cage in the summer.

White answered TMZ's questions about McGregor's participation this year.

"He is doing all the right thing with his leg. "I hope he will be able to come back this summer."

When asked about Nate Diaz possibly welcoming McGregor back to action he replied ESPN: "It could [be]].

"I believe Conor will be returning in the summer. But, I'm not sure. It all depends on how his leg heals.

"There are a million possibilities that could occur between now and then. It is foolish to speculate. That is why I stopped doing it.

"When McGregor calls me and says he's ready for training 100 percent, then we can start talking about Conor's possibilities."
