Smith was touted as Hearn's replacement, but Barry's son proved that he is still the boss.
Hearn delivered a perfectly executed left hook to Smith's stomach, which stunned the Matchroom CEO.
Smith, who has been with Hearn since the age of 14 is to be credited for getting up and moving on.
Hearn may have always been the victor in sparring, considering that he was a teenager who boxed three times at Billericay Amateur Boxing Club and won them all.
Because his father was afraid that their surname would lead to opponents taking 'liberties', he was named 'Eddie Hills'.
In 2017, Boxing Social interviewed the future fighter and admitted that he wasn't cut out for boxing.
Hearn stated that "they introduced me as Eddie Hills" and I was devastated. It was my father's idea, I told him.
"He believed that if they knew me, they would put it on my head and take liberties.
"I had some skills. I fantasized a lot about myself, I thought I was Sugar Ray Leonard. But you can't be fighter if your family is wealthy and you go to public school.
"The other lads were more difficult than I was.
"I can remember looking at one of my opponents before we boxed, and telling my dad: "Great, I have the fat kid."
"But he nearly took my head off."
