Eddie Hearn is concerned that Fury vs Wilder could again be delayed due to 'zero hype and no tickets sold'

EDDIE HEARN is concerned that Tyson Fury's third fight against Deontay Wilder may be delayed again.

Although the trilogy bout is set for October 9, Las Vegas, Brits are not allowed to fly to the USA and there has been very little hype from the TV channels or promotional teams.

Fury's career-best performance against Fury to defeat the American and become the WBC heavyweight champion has been almost two years. There have been a few third-fight plans since then, but the pandemic is still raging.

Hearn believes that Fury should be stripped of the title by another date, so Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte can finally fight for it.

"Is that fight actually happening?" AJ's promoter asked.

"We will soon announce our next America show on October 16th. It's only six weeks away. It's very tight, but not as big as Fury Vs Wilder 3.

They have not sold any tickets and there is no hype about the fight.

"I'm sure that if it does happen, people will turn on to watch it, but nobody is flying to Vegas.

"I think 75 percent of those who went to the second bout were Brits who had flown in and normal fans can't do that now."

WBC has a form that allows belt holders to be placed in recess, granting them franchise status, or granting them emeritus status. This is done while they are injured or move between weight classes.

Hearn urges them to take action if the date approaches quickly and have both his stars participate in the shot for the green and golden belt.

The Matchroom boss stated, "I want it 100 percent to happen." "I want AJ to be undisputed champion.

"But, if it doesn’t happen, then the WBC must finally put Fury in recess.

"Fury hasn't boxed since February 2020, and if Fury doesn't box October, it will almost be two years since the title was defended.

"I believe he must fight, because otherwise he should be stripped of his title or made champion in-recess.

"Because DillianWhyte has been there as interim champion desperate for a shot.

Fury vs Wilder 3 was originally scheduled for July 24, but it was cancelled due to an alleged case covid-19 for Gypsy King, which would have caused that show to be abandoned.

Hearn was 6'9in tall and has not confirmed the diagnosis. There were confusions and contradictions surrounding the situation that led people to wonder if there was dwindling interest.

He stated that if you promise people money or tell them about their expected purse size, then suddenly you start to look at the numbers and realize you are spending four million dollars instead of eighteen millions.

"I understand that the absence of two years is due to the pandemic, the problems it caused, but when it reaches two years, and everyone has managed to fight it, something has to happen."
