EDDIE HEARN appears to have made a significant U-turn regarding a possible fight between Derek Chisora, and Deontay wilder.
Hearn said late last year, that Del Boy and the former WBC heavyweight champion were on his 2022 wishlist.
After his December defeat to Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora ended all talk of retiring
After further analysis of Joseph Parker's performance against Chisora last December, the Matchroom Boxing chief changed his mind and now believes the bout will be canceled.
He said that he was just making a throwaway comment about Wilder saying that if the fight went for four to five rounds, he would beat Wilder.
"It's clearly a very dangerous fight [against Wilder]"
Parker, 38, lost by a narrow margin to Chisora in the rematch, but Parker was quick to dismiss any talk of his retirement.
A fight with Luis Ortiz, the elder statesman of division Luis Ortiz, is in the works for the former world title challenger.
Hearn said: "There have been some talks about Chisora against Luis Ortiz." That fight is my favorite.
Chisora, a fan favourite, was excited about the possibility of a match with Wilder. He told iFL TV that "some people say no, others say yes, but it's upto me."
"I say yes. We want to make it happen if it's a good match. We want to make good fights happen."
However, Chisora's Coach Dave Coldwell is strongly against the bout. He's even refused to take part in it.
TalkSPORT asked him: "It's something I don't want to see. It's too difficult for him.
"Derek is Derek, and he will do whatever he wants. It doesn't matter how anyone says it, it's exactly the same as how he has been throughout his career.
"When it comes to it, 'Does this man fight again or not?'
"Yes, he will take advice from others when it comes down to opponents and such like, but Derek wants fight specific people.
"If he's interested in the fights, they'll be there." "If I had my way, Deontay Wilder wouldn't be fighting him, that's for certain."
