Eddie Hearn, the Matchroom promoter for Anthony Joshua, has disclosed that he approached Francis Ngannou about a potential fight with Joshua, only to be completely ignored by the UFC legend.

Ngannou's Impressive Performance Against Tyson Fury

In October, the 37-year-old former UFC champion shocked the world by stepping into the ring with boxing's WBC title holder Tyson Fury. Ngannou delivered a massive blow to the Gypsy King in the third round of their crossover bout and continued to give him a tough time throughout the match.

Hearn's Attempt to Arrange a Fight

Following Ngannou's remarkable display in the lucrative showdown in Saudi Arabia, Hearn claims he reached out to Ngannou for a potential crossover match-up. However, he never received a response, which ultimately led to the announcement of Joshua's upcoming fight with Otto Wallin on December 23.

Ngannou's Rematch Aspirations

Hearn believes that Ngannou will not step back into the ring until he gets a rematch with Fury. Fury is scheduled to face Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed fight on February 17, which Ngannou is eagerly waiting for.

Hearn stated, "I reached out to Francis Ngannou’s team and I said, ‘Just to let you know, we’re up for discussing the Francis Ngannou AJ fight. I never heard back from them. So I think probably, knowing the business, I would say that probably Fury-Ngannou is almost probably agreed to post Fury-Usyk already."

The Future for Ngannou

Hearn predicts that Ngannou will feel confident about facing Fury again after their first fight. However, he believes that Ngannou should capitalize on his current fame and only fight top-tier opponents, such as Fury, Joshua, or Deontay Wilder.

Hearn concluded, "So I’d guess, and you might know better, Francis Ngannou will fight in the PFL or wherever in spring, summer of 2024, and then he’ll fight Tyson Fury at the end of [2024]. I would think that would be the mindset of the team."

It remains to be seen if Ngannou will accept Hearn's offer for a fight with Joshua or if he will prioritize a rematch with Fury.
