Dangerous Matchup
Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Anthony Joshua, has made it clear that fighting the undefeated Joe Joyce would be "dangerous" following his recent defeat against Zhilei Zhang. Joyce suffered a devastating loss in April when Zhang inflicted serious damage to his eye, leaving his career in jeopardy. Hearn believes that Joyce should not step into the ring with Joshua, as it would be an extremely risky move.
Promoter's Concerns
Hearn expressed his doubts about the potential matchup in an interview with iFL TV. He stated, "That would be dangerous. Honestly, he shouldn't be boxing. He's had a great career, he should've been Olympic champion, he won the interim world heavyweight title, and I'm sure he's made a lot of money as well."
Highlighting the difference in power and speed between Zhang and Joshua, Hearn cautioned against the fight, emphasizing the need to protect the fighters involved. He described the potential matchup as a "car crash."
Alternative Options
Although Hearn ruled out a fight between Joshua and Joyce, he did bring up the idea of a monumental bout between Joshua and Zhang. Hearn revealed that Joshua has always been interested in facing Zhang, whom he defeated in the amateurs. The fight could take place in China or at Wembley Stadium, if the financial incentives make it worthwhile.

Hearn also mentioned the desire to set up a fight with Deontay Wilder, but sees Zhang as a potentially easier matchup. Despite acknowledging the danger, Hearn remains open to the idea of Joshua taking on the "interim" champion Zhang.
With the potential for a thrilling clash at Wembley Stadium and the possibility of securing the belt held by Oleksandr Usyk, Zhang's future in the boxing world is looking bright.
