Eddie Hearn suggests that Jake Paul v Conor McGregor could prove to be "a lot more competitive" than Notorious against Floyd Mayweather.

Eddie Hearn, BOXING promoter, has supported Jake Paul in his fight against Conor McGregor.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer has repeatedly declared his interest in pitting his wits against the UFC star, where he claims he will knock the Irishman out.

This would be a true battle of the novices, with Paul 5-0 in the squared circle and the Notorious having only had one fight in boxing -- a loss against Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.

Paul is currently preparing for Hasim Rahman Jr. on August 6. This comes after his bout against Tommy Fury was cancelled.

Hearn, however, wants to see McGregor take on Paul in the ring.

Sirius XM Boxing's Matchroom boss, said that he believed it was competitive, particularly with the weight difference.

"Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor are a lot more competitive that Conor vs Floyd Mayweather."

McGregor and Paul were embroiled in a verbal war on social media. The Dublin native called Paul a "flop" while Paul called Paul a "nobody" earlier in the month.

After Paul had discussed a possible clash with McGregor during an interview for the MMA Hour, his comments were made.

Paul stated that his opponent must be active again, as the 34-year old is still healing from a broken leg that he sustained against Dustin Poirier last season.

He said to Ariel Helwani, "I think fighting a few more times, continuing knocking some people out, and then he needs to get active again. Who knows when that's going to happen?"

"I believe these two things must happen and it has to happen at some point.

He said, "You know what? He's a businessman and I'm a businessman. That's $75-100 million [PS63m–PS84.3m] for both of us.

McGregor quickly responded to the interview, as he used social media to attack Paul.

He tweeted his opinion on the unbeaten 5-0 Ace: "You've had 2 fights and done 70k purchases."
