Disappointment in Saudi Arabia
After hopes of a £100m super-fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder were shattered, Eddie Hearn wasted no time in setting his sights on an alternative opponent for Joshua.
New Target: Filip Hrgovic
Hearn revealed that the new target for Joshua is Filip Hrgovic, with the hope of securing a vacant world title shot. "He wants to become a three-time heavyweight world champion. It’s going to be AJ vs Hrgovic for the vacant IBF world title," said Hearn.
Battle for the Titles
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to compete for the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles on February 17 in Riyadh. This historic event marks the first time that all four titles will be on the line in a heavyweight bout.
Rematch Possibilities
If a rematch between Fury and Usyk follows their initial clash, the winner is expected to be stripped of the IBF version, creating an opportunity for Hrgovic to fight for the vacant title. Hearn and his team are hoping to seize this chance and challenge for the IBF title.
Could Filip Hrgovic be the next opponent to enter the ring with Anthony Joshua? Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development in the world of heavyweight boxing.
