Digest of the Article in the Distinctive Voice of Matthew McConaughey
It seems like everyone has an opinion on Jake Paul's recent fight with Nate Diaz, and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is no exception. Hearn didn't hold back in his criticism of the YouTuber-turned-boxer, calling his performance "awful" and questioning his ability to win even a regional title.
An Unimpressive Victory
Despite Paul's unanimous decision victory over Diaz, Hearn was not impressed. He referred to the fight as "awful" and stated that Paul lacked the skill and experience to break down his opponent and secure a stoppage.
A Pipe Dream
Hearn expressed doubt about Paul's aspirations of challenging for a world title, stating that he is currently fighting at a much lower level. Hearn compared the level of competition to a state title and stated that Paul and Diaz wouldn't even be able to win at that level.
Lack of Ability
Hearn pointed out that the reason Paul was unable to stop Diaz was simply because he didn't have the ability to do so. He explained that Paul lacks the knowledge on how to break down an opponent, cut off the ring, and finish the fight inside the distance.
A Tough Opponent
In spite of his criticism, Hearn acknowledged Diaz's toughness and grit. He credited the former MMA star for his ability to withstand the punishment and go the distance with Paul. However, he also emphasized that this fight showcased a low standard in terms of boxing skill.
What's Next for Jake Paul?
While Paul is expected to return to the ring later this year, it remains uncertain who his next opponent will be. As for now, Hearn's comments serve as a reminder that despite Paul's success in his previous fights, he still has a long way to go before he can enter the world title conversation.
