BOXING legend Evander Hollyfield launched a ferocious attack on Tyson Fury’s father, John. He claimed that the outspoken coach "doesn’t have a name” in boxing.
Fury, now 57, has recently stated that he is open to taking on former heavyweight champions Holyfield or Mike Tyson on the same night.
Holyfield and Tyson, former rivals, recently returned to the ring.
Holyfield was stunned by the comments. He dismissed them as a 'catchy way' to get attention.
SunSport was told by The Real Deal: "Well, here is a man who doesn't have any name in boxing but he has a son that has done well."
It's just catchy and sounds great.
"But unfortunately, I don't think it's an eye-catcher if anyone said they would fight Mike Tyson or Holyfield on the exact same day.
"Anybody can make that claim. "I have never heard anyone with any sense say that. This is what a 57-year-old man would say to me.
"Who has he fought throughout his entire career to be able to say that?"
BETTING SPECIAL - GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1Holyfield, a boxing Hall of Famer, returned to the ring earlier in the month for an exhibition fight with Vitor Belfort (ex-UFC light-heavyweight champ).
As Brazilian Belfort blitzed him in two minutes, the former undisputed cruiserweight king looked as old as his 58-years.
Holyfield swore at the referee after the stoppage, which was he felt was premature.
The 1984 Olympic bronze medallist hopes to share the ring again with The Phenom, adding that "I'll fight Vitor Benfort again!"
"The truth is that it was extremely rude and wrong for anyone to try and pump someone up or glorify the way another person won.
"Anybody with common sense and respects boxing would say: "You're going sit here and try rob this man's what this man has done all his life. You mean to tell me that?"
"This isn't to discredit Vitor Belfort, he's just a fighter. He didn't have to do it.
"I'm talking here about my entire thing. I had the opportunity to do whatever I wanted and I don't think Vitor has a problem - he did exactly what he did, which was to fight.
"He supposed to swing, and he's supposed to go for it the best, so I don't blame him!" I have nothing negative to say about him.
"He struck me with his head once and then he stepped on me like I said. This allowed me to fall.
"I think somebody should have told referee that he is not hurt, don't stop fighting."
"But, I heard that someone had told the referee not to continue the fight.
"There is a three-knockdown rule. But did he knock me down? He didn't."
