BOXING fans called Evander Holyfield's fight against Vitor Belfort, ex-UFC champion, 'one the saddest events in history'.
After ten years, the legendary heavyweight heavyweight made his return to the ring.
Vitor Belfort beat Evander Holyfield
He did this to replace Oscar De La Hoya (48), who was forced to leave Belfort (44) with coronavirus.
Holyfield, 58 was the replacement, but the fight was moved from California to Florida because the California State Athletic Commission refused to license the veteran American.
Florida was able to overcome these issues, and "The Real Deal" was allowed to put on his boots again.
It was a good thing for everyone involved as Belfort got an early knockdown.
Holyfield won the count but he covered up his Brazilian opponent, causing the referee to intervene.
The fight was being fought online by those who were watching in dismay and despair.
One said, "Holyfield stopped in round one. It's one the most saddest things I have ever witnessed in a boxing ring!
Mike Coppinger, a renowned reporter, tweeted: "That was really difficult to watch. The Florida commission should be ashamed.
"I believed they would go through the motions as Tyson or Jones. They didn't."
Kevin Iole, Yahoo Sports' CEO, remarked that "This was an absolute DISSGRACE."
Adrian Yanez, UFC bantamweight, posted: "This hurts me...we shouldn't have had a 58-year old Holyfield in that ring."
"Would definitely prefer it to be Oscar lol."
