Floyd Mayweather says Canelo alvarez may have been 'not clean" throughout his career, amid the P4P star's doping ban

FLOYD MayweaTHER shocked boxing by claiming that Canelo Alvarez may not have been clean throughout his legendary career.

In the last loss, 'Money' has now retired and defeated the Mexican icon by a majority decision.

Canelo went on to be a four-weight world champion, and has now unified three divisions. The 31-year old is now planning to move up to the cruiserweight.

He is widely considered the best pound for pound boxer in the world.

Canelo received a six month suspension for testing positive for banned substance, clenbuterol, on two occasions in 2018. He blamed the contamination of his meat.

That is something Mayweather doesn't want to forget, as he spoke with the media ahead of Gervonta Davis' fight against Isaac Cruz this weekend.

Mayweather, 33, stated that: "What we don’t talk about, uh Canelo Canelo Canelo Canelo Canelo Canelo Canelo Canelo. Canelo. Steroids, steroids, steroids!

We don't talk about it, so we don’t know all of the fighters he beat. He could have been dirty in many fights."

When asked if he believed Canelo was safe after their collision in 2013, he answered: "I don’t know." It was easy to work with that kid. He was so easy to work with."

Mayweather also accused Canelo, David Benavidez's 'ducking' and attacked his fight with Ilunga Makabu for the cruiserweight title.

Canelo defeated Caleb Plant, and then the WBC accepted a request to challenge Makabu, 34, as cruiserweight champion.

This would require him to challenge for the world title in his FIFTH Division and face an opponent who is TWO STONE more.

Mayweather, however, favored Benavidez (24-year-old unbeaten super-middleweight champion) as the better opponent.

Reporters were told by him that he would go to Benavidez if it was up to him. Canelo is a great fighter, but in my opinion, he is ducking Benavidez.

"That's my opinion, and I'm free to express my thoughts.

"He's going to cruiserweight -- I'm not knocking his -- that same guy at cruiserweight used be at the Mayweather Boxing Gym.

"The Mayweather Boxing Gym was full of guys who were getting the best out of him so if he goes up to 'cruiserweight', Benavidez can beat that same guy.

"But when you're put in a position, he, like myself, can pick and choose whom he wants to because i earned that right.

"But, do I like the fight? Absolutely not. We want to see Benavidez. Let's make this happen."
