Tennis Star Turned Boxer
Jordan Thompson, the former 6ft 7in British tennis player, is now making waves in the boxing world as he fights for his first world title. Thompson, who was once a rising star in tennis, made the switch to professional boxing and has already recorded 15 wins.
The Power of Tennis
Thompson attributes his success in boxing to his background in tennis. The skills he developed on the court, including his powerful overhand right, have translated well in the ring. He believes that the repetitive hitting of the tennis ball, along with the transfer of weight and whipping motion, has given him an edge in the boxing world.
A Shot at the IBF World Title
Thompson's next challenge is the IBF world title fight against Australian boxer Jai Opetaia. Despite not having any domestic titles to his name, Thompson is confident in his abilities and aims to prove himself in this two-horse race. He is determined to win and grab the belts.
From Tennis Star to Boxing Champion
While Thompson was honing his skills on the tennis court, his opponent Opetaia was making waves in the boxing world, winning the 2011 junior world championships and competing in the London 2012 Olympics at the age of 16. However, Thompson is not letting their different paths deter him and is focused on coming out on top.

A Family Affair
Despite his own success, Thompson's little sister Francesca, who is currently starring in the Lion King show in the West End, likes to tease him about his looks on social media. Thompson credits his siblings, including his little brother, for motivating and inspiring him. He dedicates his upcoming fight to them and all those who have supported him along the way.
