Boxing Icon and Snake Lover
Former WBA lightweight champion Livingstone Bramble, also known as Ras-I Alujah Bramble, has died at the age of 64. Bramble was a renowned figure in the boxing world, famous for his battles with Ray Mancini and his unconventional choice of wearing a snake around his neck.
Legendary Victories and Heartbreaking Defeat
Bramble held the WBA lightweight belt for two years and secured memorable victories over Hall of Famer Ray Mancini. He notably knocked out Mancini to claim the WBA lightweight belt in 1984 and successfully defended it in a rematch. However, his reign came to an end with a surprising defeat to Edwin Rosario in 1986.
Tributes to a Eccentric Champion
Described as an "eccentric" character, Bramble was known for his unique antics in the ring, including pulling out a voodoo doll during a fight with Mancini. His former manager and trainer Lou Duva fondly remembered him as a quirky personality, while friend Stitch Duran praised his powerful punches and friendship.
