Warren Slams Accusations
Furious Frank Warren has lashed out at accusations that Fabio Wardley used dodgy gloves to shatter Frazer Clarke's face during their recent fight. Clarke, 33, required emergency surgery on his jaw after a brutal knockout in their British and Commonwealth heavyweight title rematch.
Shalom's Claims
Ben Shalom, Wardley's promoter, has raised concerns about the customised 10oz Fly gloves used in the fight. He stated that the gloves are under investigation after medical experts compared the impact to being hit with a brick. Shalom insisted that they were warned by Clarke's team about the gloves that could be used.
Warren's Response
Frank Warren, in a strong rebuttal, called Shalom's claims a "disgrace" and accused him of trying to tarnish Wardley's victory. Warren emphasized that all gloves are checked and approved by the British Boxing Board of Control before fights, and no issues were raised during the process. He vowed to take Shalom to the Board for bringing the sport into disrepute.
No Investigation Confirmed
A spokesperson for the British Boxing Board of Control clarified that there is no ongoing investigation into the gloves used in the fight. They confirmed that the gloves had been approved before the match took place.
