From Joshua to Wilder: Washington's Experience
Gerald Washington, the seasoned heavyweight boxer, has had the unique opportunity to share the ring with some of the biggest names in the sport. From Anthony Joshua to Deontay Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk, Washington has sparred and fought alongside the best of them. Now, he's ready to spill the beans on how these boxing superstars compare.
The Sparring Journey
Washington's journey in the ring has brought him face-to-face with the most formidable opponents. He sparred with Anthony Joshua before Joshua's victory against Kubrat Pulev in 2020. And while Deontay Wilder initially beat Washington in 2017, the two later became sparring partners. Washington's services have also been called upon by the likes of Oleksandr Usyk, Andy Ruiz Jr, and even past heavyweight champions like Wladimir Klitschko.

Comparing the Greats
According to Washington, each boxer brings something unique to the table. Deontay Wilder is known for his power, Joshua for his boxing fundamentals, Usyk for his ring IQ and hard work, and Derek Chisora for his heart and perseverance. Washington commends Chisora for constantly giving his all and becoming a hero in the UK.
Undercard Action
Washington, now 41, will step into the ring with Derek Chisora, 38, as part of the undercard for Joshua's return on Saturday night at the O2 Arena. Originally, Dillian Whyte was supposed to be Joshua's opponent, but due to a failed drug test, Robert Helenius has stepped in as a substitute.

Super-Fight on the Horizon
With a win, Anthony Joshua would secure a super-fight against Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia. Interestingly, Wilder is not only a training partner but also a friend of Washington's. Despite this, Washington says he would have had no qualms about facing Joshua if the opportunity had arisen.
Now, all focus is on the upcoming fight with Chisora, and Washington is prepared to give his all.
