Gervonta Davis labels Teofimo Lopez's dad and Teofimo Lopez 'big-headed' during his breakdown of his shock loss to Kambosos

GERVONTA DAVIS accused Teofimo Lopez, his lightweight rival, and his father of being "big-headed", following last weekend's shock loss to George Kambosos.

Lopez, 24, won three editions of the 130lb title in the world with a stunning victory over Vasyl Lomachenko.

However, Kambosos from Australia won his first defense of the world championship after that win. It was one of the most surprising upsets in recent years.

Davis will be taking on Isaac Cruz Saturday for the WBA regular lightweight strap. He feels Lopez was guilty in not noticing Kambosos.

He responded to the shock loss with the following statement: "I think [Lopez] just thought that the guy was a slouch." He was adamant that he would not be hurt.

"There were so many wrong things that he did in that fight. He was just too big-headed to be a one. His father was too big-headed."

Kambosos won the fight in a split decision. Two judges scored it 115-112 or 115-111. Lopez was awarded it with a score 114-113.

Teofimo Sr., Lopez's father, bizarrely blamed Eddie Hearn, the show's promoter, for his son's loss.

Lopez was contracted to Top Rank, ESPN and DAZN for the Kambosos fight – the event was put on by Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.

Lopez Sr. said after the fight that he should not have fought with DAZN and should have stood with Top Rank because those people really love us.

"And you learn from your mistakes. We return with Top Rank, two PPV fights next season. Everyone knows what happened.

Hearn responded to these comments by saying, "I feel for his father, I know he wants to blame me for the fact he lost."

"It kind of comes with territory, I suppose, but he deserves a lot more credit for showing a lot heart."

"About one week ago, it was the greatest thing he had ever done when he came to DAZN.

"All of a suddenly he lost a determination that everyone thought he had lost, and it was my fault as well as DAZN's.

"You cannot reason with someone like this. He called me several times, and he sent me a message saying that he couldn't believe what he did.

"I told him, "Listen, we treated your with incredible respect." I love Teofimo, I love his dad, good people. You have to let go of delusion.
