All Four Lightweight Belts Left Vacant as Devin Haney Moves Up

Boxing sensation Gervonta Davis has made it clear that he has no interest in inheriting the vacant WBA world lightweight title. The belts, previously held by undisputed champion Devin Haney, have been left vacant as Haney moves up to the 140lb super-lightweight division to challenge for Regis Prograis' title on December 9. Davis, who held the WBA's secondary "regular" championship, is now faced with the possibility of being upgraded to the full belt or being mandated to fight for it.

Davis Voices His Disinterest in the Title

Gervonta Davis, 25, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his thoughts on the matter. In a blunt statement, he said, "I don't want that s***." While Davis has previously held titles at super-featherweight, he was never recognized as a full lightweight champion despite winning the WBA's trinket title.

Shakur Stevenson and Others Set to Benefit

With Haney vacating the gold, Shakur Stevenson, 26, is now expected to become the WBC champion. In addition, Vasiliy Lomachenko, 35, and George Kambosos, 30, are in talks for an IBF title fight in Australia. Haney himself has plans to move up to welterweight and become a three-weight champion, stating, "I've outgrown the division, so now I make my quest to 140 to become a two-division champion. And after this fight, I look to become a three-division champion and move up to 147, God willing that I'm successful in this fight."
