GERVONTA DAVIS might be the most exciting fighter since Mike Tyson, but comparing him with mentor Floyd Mayweather seems unfair.
Mayweather, a boxing legend, signed Davis in 2015. This was just two years after he retired as a perfect 50-0.

Protege Tank has since won three division belts and scored 24 knockouts during his 25 consecutive wins. He also returned against Isaac Cruz on Sunday.
Davis, who has sold almost 500,000 tickets and is a major pay-per-view celebrity for Mayweather Promotions, is most important to Mayweather Promotions.
This American is hardworking and has a 96% knockout rate, making him one of the most popular athletes in the sport.
Leonard Ellerbe is the CEO of Mayweather Promotions and has been instrumental in Davis' rise to stardom.
He believes that no one since Iron Mike's most destructive prime has ever guaranteed such ferocious action in the ring.
Ellerbe told SunSport: “There’s a number of great fighters out there with the ability to create nothing but excitement for the fans.

"There isn't just one fighter that stands out to me that I can recall recently, but Mike Tyson. We all know who Mike Tyson is.
"The most important thing about Tank's career is that he has been able to attract people to his events and get them to support him."
They can either attend his live events, or watch them at home. He's undoubtedly the most exciting fighter in all of the sport.
"People gravitate towards him, and when you look at the younger generation of fans out, they only talk about Tank Davis.
"Gervonta has placed himself in a position that he must-see TV. And you know why?" Because he delivers exactly what the fans want.
After Mayweather retired from boxing, he left behind a few money-spinning shows.
He said that his ultimate goal was to surpass him before Leo Santa Cruz's defeat in October 2020.
Ellerbe, however, believes it unfair to expect the same from Davis. His front-foot southpaw style contrasts sharply with Mayweather's.
He stated, "Too many people compare them, and I'm no fan of that at any cost."
Floyd Mayweather was the greatest to ever do it. He broke all sorts of records, and that's Floyd's legacy.
Tank shouldn't do that to him, he's a totally different fighter.
"Tank is leading this new generation, this ten-year-old fights. We haven't yet seen Tank's boxing skills and he's just getting started.
Tank is a top boxer in the world. His skillset is second to none.
"Tank can box in multiple ways in any fight."
Mayweather, 44 years old, announced last year that he would transition into coaching after being inspired by Roger, his uncle and former coach.
In recent fights, he was present in Davis' camps holding the pads and giving advice during sparring sessions.
This time, however, Davis (26) will fight Mexican Cruz (23) and Mayweather (23), has been absent from the sessions. Instead, he relies on feedback from his right-hand man.
Ellerbe said: "He hasn’t been to the gym a lot because he has several things that he is working on."
He continues to support Tank. Gervonta is his greatest fighter, and Floyd is proud of him for all his achievements.
"Floyd, I and Floyd talk every day, about Floyd's progress, and how he is doing. Floyd doesn't have to be present at all times.
"He hears it from me firsthand, and the truth of the matter, Floyd is in Tank's corner, supporting him, that's all that matters, it's the end of the world."
