British boxing sensation Anthony Joshua had some choice words for fans who booed him during his recent victory over Robert Helenius. Despite winning via a seventh-round knockout, Joshua's performance was deemed lackluster by some of his supporters.

A Cautious Victory

While Anthony Joshua emerged victorious, his display in the ring was cautious and slow-paced, disappointing many fans in attendance at the O2 Arena. Starting from round three, they expressed their dissatisfaction by booing and whistling.

Joshua Claps Back

In a post-fight press conference, Anthony Joshua addressed the fans' negative reactions. When asked if the crowd's response affected his performance, Joshua replied, "Not necessarily, I think they don't understand it is competitive boxing. We are trying to shut each other's advances down."

He went on to defend his style of play, comparing it to a game of chess: "From the outside, chess is a boring game, but everything I try to do, they shut down. Why am I going to go in there and trade from round one? Break him down."

Fans or Helenius?

When questioned about how it felt to be booed, Joshua quipped, "Were they booing me or Helenius? That is the question, who were they booing?" The reporter suggested that fans wanted a quicker knockout, to which Joshua replied with a shrug, "Have any of them ever boxed before?"

Always Room for Improvement

Despite the victory, Joshua remains critical of his own performance. When asked if he was satisfied with his display, he deferred to his coach, Derrick James: "That is for my coach to say. I don't really rate my performances, whatever the coach thinks. We can go back to the drawing board and I know there is a lot of things we can improve on. I felt better than I did in April [versus Jermaine Franklin], and that is the main thing."

Upcoming Matchup

If negotiations go well, Anthony Joshua could face Deontay Wilder in January. The highly anticipated bout is expected to take place in Saudi Arabia.
