"I could fight half-dead but still beat him" - Saunders makes a stunning swipe at Eubank Jr. ahead of possible rematch

The 32-year old doesn't think it will last very long if the feuding couple do enter the ring once more.

In 2014, Billy Joe Saunders won a split decision against Chris Eubank Jr.

Saunders was awarded a split decision in their 2014 meeting, but has recently lost to Canelo alvarez.

Eubank, meanwhile, put on what is arguably his best performance to win over Liam Williams last weekend.

Rumours of a Saunders retirement have been swirling, but the ex-two-weight world champion insists he is interested in another Eubank scalp.

IFLTV asked him: "Do I believe I can lift the weight comfortably?" It doesn't really matter if it is easy for me or difficult for him. He could beat me if I did it half-dead."

Saunders has been in discussions with Ben Shalom, the promoter, and Adam Smith, Sky Sports' head for boxing, about a possible rematch.

Shalom stated: "Billy Joe really wants to fight because he knows Chris is stronger than ever since their last fight.

It's a big pay-per view fight, it's huge night. However, Billy Joe will need to work hard because he suffered a huge loss.

Eubank Jr. still disputes the points loss eighteen years ago, and is determined to settle the matter once and for all.

He stated that he didn't think too highly of him, as you know. Is it a fight that I would choose to take on? Yes.

"The fight has everything. It has a story. It has two top-tier fighters who don’t like one another. It's hard to imagine anyone not wanting to see this fight.

"I don’t know what he has to offer, other than the defeat that was given to me all those many years ago.

"But, if the offer is available and it's at the right time and place, and the business makes sense, then we should do it."
