CANELO ALVAREZ said he was shocked to hear he would be moving up to cruiserweight. He only learned of this via social media.
After just 11 months of fighting, the Mexican champion at super-middleweight was undisputed in November.

The WBC accepted Canelo's sensational request to contest for their title of cruiserweight champion.
The man revealed that it was Eddy Reynoso, his manager and trainer, who had the idea. He did not consult Alvarez.
Canelo stated to World Boxing News, "I didn’t even know that." It was something I saw on social media.
He said, "Like I always say: If Eddy says anything or tries something crazy, then I'm always in. He is his warrior.
"He called me and said that he wanted to know what I thought. I had never considered (cruiserweight).
"Eddy is always thinking about things, but it's not something I ever thought about."
Canelo, 31, won belts ranging from light-middleweight to light-heavyweight.
His biggest career win was the WBO 175lb title, which he won after beating Sergey Kovalev (39), in November 2019.
However, Canelo quickly moved down to super-middleweight and has since settled in his new weight.
Canelo would make the leap to cruiserweight by gaining two more divisions.
He would have to gain more than TWO STONE to reach 14st 4lb, from the 12st that he weighed at supermiddleweight.
Ilunga Makabu (34), is the current WBC champion. He defends his belt against Thabiso Mochunu (33) in January.
Canelo will wait for the American results before making his decision about a jump to cruiserweight.
He stated, "It's still not done." We want to see it.
"So, we will see what's coming for us in January. It sounds great, but it is not yet done.
"So, we will do our best to find the best for ourselves. It sounds great to me to be a champion at five weights.
"I don’t know what I’m doing yet. Eddy and I haven’t yet sat down to discuss it, but there is something positive.
"I am always searching for the best, looking to find history. We'll all have to wait and see what's next, but I am certain it will be the best fight.
